The Berkeley Journal of Gender, Law & Justice (BGLJ) is currently accepting commentary submissions for Volume 37, to be published in Spring 2022. BGLJ is an academic journal at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law that explores gender issues at the nexus of law and public policy.  

Our mandate is to publish feminist legal scholarship that critically examines the intersection of gender with one or more axes of subordination, including, but not limited to, race, class, sexual orientation, and disability.

About the Submissions Process

BGLJ welcomes concise, scholarly pieces that respond to contemporary developments in the law from an intersectional feminist perspective. We especially encourage current law students and recent graduates to submit pieces, including seminar papers and/or notes. 

Criteria:

  • Recommended 15-20 page manuscript;

  • Commentary has not previously been published and is not committed to being published elsewhere;

  • Submissions must meet the mandate of the journal: Our mandate is to publish feminist legal scholarship that critically examines the intersection of gender with one or more axes of subordination, including, but not limited to, race, class, sexual orientation, and disability.

Submission Deadline: December 17, 2021


Commentaries should be submitted by email at bglj.rdc@berkeley.edu with the subject line “Commentary Submission.”
